John McCain scares me almost as much as Obama scares me. What horrible choices we have this year.

Melissa

Debi-
Thanks for all your comments. It's really nice to hear from readers.
I'm curious, though-- what is it that you find scary about Obama?

He's too socialist. He wants to "take care" of us. I want a President who actually thinks I can take care of myself. Who believes I'm smart & capable enough to do so. Obama wants to spend too much money. As does McCain. As did Bush. Obama scares me because he's either lying about not understanding all the shady & anti-US backgrounds of his friends, cohorts, buddies, or else he has VERY POOR judgement of people. I believe him to by lying. He scares me because he has the ability to make his supporters VERY non-questioning; in their eyes he can do no wrong, can tell no half-truth. I could go on & on. I don't believe him to be a sincere man.

And BTW, thanks for responding to me in such a civil way. You may not know how rare that is. Then again, you may know exactly how rare that is. Thanks again.

Ok, that makes sense....and I understand your points.

But I'm now so disillusioned by the Bush Reign that I fit into that 'he has the ability to make his supporters VERY non-questioning; in their eyes he can do no wrong' category that you mentioned.

The Democrats could run my crazy cat, Mattie, and I'd vote for her over anyone that the Republicans nominated.

For what it's worth, I was a McCain girl in 2000 and considered voting for him this year, until he picked Palin. Now, I believe that he must be defeated for us to survive as a nation. And I'm only kidding a little with that last statement.

And as for the civility, you're welcome. I find it very sad that you thought to thank me, but I do understand how discourse on the net has completely devolved into nastiness. So please continue to comment and fact check me, if you like--I can use a little fact checking every now and again :)

It IS kind of sad that I say thanks but like you pointed out, people can get CRAZY! And mean. I usually avoid commenting on political blogs for this very reason, but, to be honest, yours didn't read as mean at all. And you're right about a lot people feeling the same non-questioning way about Bush. We've got to be able to raise our eyebrows at someone we've elcted when he starts to do things we find objectionable.

Take care - I'll be back!
