Jean Spinney, co-owner of Chauncey Creek Lobster Pound and avid Red Sox fan passed away earlier this week.
When we first started visiting Chauncey Creek in 1989, it was still a small unknown gem. Since then, with Jean's direction, it's become one of the must visit destinations for lobster in all of Maine (we remember the people in front of us from Texas, who were visiting Boston and drove to Chauncey Creek from the Four Seasons on the advice of the concierge; they ate, they drove back to Boston), and we have always felt lucky to have purchased a house so close to our favorite place for Lobster.
Our condolences to Jean's family and the staff of Chauncey Creek.
Oh, nooooooooo. So, so sad to hear about Jean.
I'm not sure what year we started going to Chauncey Creek. We always take visitors from away, and love to go all by ourselves.
It may no longer be "unknown" but it will always be a gem.
