Oh. The Humanity. There is a cosmic tear in my soul that is roughly the size of Akron.
The Buckeyes do no lose in Ohio Stadium and they certainly do not lose on Senior Day to an unranked team.On Saturday they were Zookered by the pride of Loudonville, Ohio-Ron Zook, who out coached Tressel, and flat out beaten by the Illini, who outplayed the Buckeyes.
Why the angst? I've no idea. Ifyou'd have told me in August that we'd be 9-1 and playing for the out right Big 10 Championship next week, I'd have laughed and said "I'll take it."
This is a rebuilding year. A year to prepare for next year. And we somehow managed to win and keep winning.....until Saturday.
All in all, this works for the best. I'm tired of listening to the drivel from the SEC and sports writers who can write something like this:
The meltdown happened a few weeks earlier for No. 1 Ohio State this season.
Last season, the undefeated and untested Buckeyes got blown out by Florida in the national title game. This season, the undefeated and untested Buckeyes flopped sooner and perhaps in even more surprising fashion.
and then respect themselves in the morning.
Yeah,Petey, OSU got slaughtered by Florida in the National Championship Game. But to get to that game, they had to do something no other team has ever been able to do: They defeated 2 number 2 teams (Texas and Michigan) in the same season and they went undefeated in a difficult conference. The last time they lost a regular season game was in October of 2005. Did you see them being 8-0? They've established a remarkable program and winning percentage in the last seven years, so stop the hating.
Yea, the Big 10 is not the Big 10 this year, but that same Florida team that whipped us has lost to Auburn (and lost two other times this year) and LSU was upset by Kentucky.....USC has two losses and highly ranked teams have been picked off a record eight times by unranked teams. Kansas may play in the title game. So don't tell me that OSU flopped or that this was a shocker. It's college football, and this is why we love it.
So now, the cosmos is realigned to where it should be. The OSU/Michigan game has gone from the game of the decade to the Battle of Who Gives a Flying Hang. The SEC fans can stop worrying about us and go back to pickin' their toes and spitting their tobaccy at roaches. As always, we'll go to Ann Arbor to play Michigan for the Big 10 title, and most importantly for bragging rights in the Greatest Rivalry in Sports.
Go Bucks. It's Michigan Week .
I'm so torn. Normally, I would want to support you in all you do.
But if Michigan wins, it makes ASU look so damn good.
(Kidding, of course. Go Buckeyes!)
